Ive made this rookie mistake before! I also cross-check calories/macro values between various listings of a particular food item and multiple calorie counting apps whenever possible. Values can waaay off at times. After all this cross-checking and consistent tracking, you develop an intuition and a decent sense of calories/macros of an ever growing list of food items.

What are your thoughts on weighing raw meat vs cooked meat? Also, props to having a rice cooker! Tastes a lot better imo than making it by stove top.
I always weigh my meat raw and enter those stats into MFP. If I cook it in oil I add the oil as well, even though it doesn’t fully absorb all of the oil. Thanks a million for the feedback and question

Ok example: 1/4 cup of jasmine rice equals 50 grams which is 180 calories. I cook one cup of jasmine rice which is 200 grams. I weight my cooked rice which will be 150 grams now I divide 150 into 4 since I know there’s four portions which eguals 37.5 my question is that 37.5 I get is what I input into my tracking app of the uncooked rice ? Meaning I’m eating 37.5 grams of uncooked rice worth ?? Which is 135 calories.
I’m not sure how your cooked rice ended up weighing less than dry? Either way you enter the dry amount. So if you cook 1 cup and you divide the cooked portion into 1/4 servings, you would enter 1/4 cup dry rice in MFP
Scott Tousignant Jacked After 40 I weight everything in grams and just picked 150 grams of cooked rice as an example. But since I know I have to input the amount in uncooked rice I go ahead and divide 150 grams by 4 and that’s how I get 37.5 which in my head 37.5 grams in uncooked rice?

calories or rice before cooked and after cooked will change i think. in most of the calories counting apps they are showing different calories???
1 cup of dry rice has more calories than 1 cup of cooked rice, because the cooked rice has more volume as a result of absorbing the water and therefore takes up more space. As the example shows in the video 180g of dry riced turned out to be 484g cooked. The calories of 180g dry is the same as 484g cooked in this situation where I used 1 cup of water.

@Wяєcкє∂ Aяк Yes, for example 45g of uncooked rice would have more calories than 45g of cooked rice, because the weight of the cooked rice includes a lot of water. If you are only making one serving for yourself, measure the rice dry and enter those calories into your tracking app.

@N don’t worry about weighing it cooked unless you are dividing it into portions. If you cook 45g of dry rice in water and the packages says the dry rice is 150 calories it doesn’t matter how much it weighs cooked… it’s still 150 calories. So measure it dry and enter those calories into your tracking app.

English: rice is absorbing water which adds only volume to the food. Water has no calories. Meaning 160Cal dry rice is the same as cocked. Only difference if the rice has blown up from water.

Not necessarily. It all depends on how much water you use.
So if I cook 5 servings weighing it dry when I portion it I just divided the cooked number by 5 and have one portion for each serving right ? Sorry a little to much info on the internet is getting me confused 😂😂
